After an incredible year, Girls on the Run (3rdā5th grade) and Heart & Sole (6thā8th grade) are officially BACK at Steel City!
These powerful programs do so much more than get our girls moving ā they build confidence, ignite girl power, and create a strong, joyful community of bold, resilient young women who learn to believe in themselves and each other. šāØ

Since the start of Quarter 3, our scientists in Advanced Science: Special Topics Lab have been hard at work! Theyāve tracked water movement in plants using celery š±, explored the effects of transpiration, and most recentlyā¦ extracted DNA from a strawberry šš§¬ Shout out to Ms. Brown, our HS Science Teacher, for bringing these labs to life!

Good morning Steel City Families š„¶ Due to frigid temperatures, Steel City Academy will be closed on Friday, January 23rd, 2025. For safety reasons, we want to ensure our students, families, and staff are able to stay warm and safe during this extreme cold.
š Important calendar update: To meet the 180 instructional days requirement, we are required to make up this day and will use one of our flex days, meaning school will now be in session on Monday, April 6th. š„ Steel City Circle, where we build relationships, community, and belonging
š Core instruction during first period, when students are most focused and ready to learn
Arrival & Start Times Matter:
š Student arrival: 7:50ā8:00 AM
š School begins at 8:00 AM. 8:01 AM is considered tardy
š Wednesdays: Arrival 9:50ā10:00 AM, school starts at 10:00 AM
Hereās what families should know:
ā”ļø Every 4 tardies = 1 absence
ā”ļø 10 or more absences in a school year makes a student eligible for retention
In Quarter 3, we are putting a strong focus on addressing chronic tardiness, because being present ā and on time ā directly impacts learning, achievement, and confidence.
