In February, our Paintbrush Playground students, under the leadership of our incredible K–12 Art teacher Mr. Gill, showcased their work at the Colors of Culture: A Celebration of Black Creativity youth-led art exhibit. What a powerful moment to see our students step into their brilliance and share their voices through art!
And last week… the full circle moment 💫 Our students received payment for the pieces they sold.
Our young artists experienced firsthand that their creativity, their talent, and their gifts have real value. That what they create can move people, tell stories, and generate opportunity.

Our students get the opportunity to invite someone special in their life, whether it is a grandparent, aunt, uncle, or family friend, to come experience the joy of Steel City alongside them 💫
📣 K–5 students brought home flyers + sign up sheets YESTERDAY! Be sure to return your form to your teacher or Ms. Wallace by Monday, April 6
✔️ Each student may invite ONE special person

So much JOY and GRATITUDE as we reflect on our recent Feed the Flame Food Pantry efforts! 💙🔥
This season, we were proud to host BOTH an in-person Feed the Flame Pantry for our families, community partners, and staff, as well as a drive-through pantry for our Steel City families. Together, these efforts allowed us to support over 120 families across our community!
We know grocery prices are high, and moments like this can go a long way for all of us! What a true blessing to be able to come together and support one another in such a meaningful way.
A huge THANK YOU to the City of Gary Government and the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana for making this possible. Your partnership continues to make a real difference in the lives of our families.
